Air Force Maj. Jesse McKee Howard tended to the spiritual and moral well-being of service members at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland. But after arranging online a meet-up for sex with who he thought was a teen, he was busted in an undercover sting.
An Air Force chaplain was sentenced Monday to 10 years in federal prison for attempting to lure a minor into sex in a case the judge called"incredibly disturbing."
Howard, who remained silent during his sentencing, plans to appeal his case, which included a ruling in which Senior U.S. District Judge David Ezra denied his motion to suppress an incriminating statement to police and related evidence. Ezra also called the case"baffling on one hand and tragic on the other," noting that as a chaplain Howard's job was to tend to the spiritual and moral well-being of service members and their families.
