LOS ANGELES — As the Rockets’ losing streak stretched to 10 games, the happy, heady times of losing, but not nearly so badly, seemed to be the good old days.
There was a time this season that the Rockets were reliably competitive for more than two or three quarters and occasionally won games. With the 21-point loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday, the Rockets have lost 15 of 16 games, ending eight games of the losing streak with the bench cleared. The Rockets’ flaws did not first become apparent in the 10 games prior to Monday’s game against the Lakers. But they have been unrelenting, and more than the Rockets could overcome.1. The Rockets spent much of the season battling through adversity, regularly rallying to keep games close, coming back from down 16 to beat the Hawks and Suns. In the losing streak, when things have gone wrong, they have collapsed. Rockets coach Stephen Silas said the ‘eye test’ shows they don’t 'let it fly’ when teams make their runs and close games begin to turn. In the fourth quarters of the 10 games prior to Monday, the Rockets have averaged just 22.3 points on 38 percent shooting and 25.
