Re: “Student debt plan could aid millions in Texas,” Front Page, Monday:
I was disappointed to read that San Antonio City Council decided to offer us measly $30 rebates on our energy bills instead of spending this money to help people weatherize their homes and plant trees in their neighborhoods. San Antonio needs to invest in the people most harmed by climate change, especially if it wants to continue running dirty fossil fuel plants. By shading building surfaces and asphalt, as well as by releasing moisture into the atmosphere, trees can help to reduce temperatures.
Trees and weatherization would help much more than a tiny rebate that’ll be gone in the blink of an eye.The irony in Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s position on several political issues is laughable.
