Over 200 young people came together to discuss the role.
OVER 200 young people have come together in Glasgow in a programme to develop themselves as leaders in sport.
The sportscotland Young Ambassadors programme helps youngsters to learn skills which will enable them to inspire and encourage others in their schools to take part in sports. Funded by the National Lottery, the ambassadors gathered at the city's Hampden Park on September 15 for a conference to discuss the role and what is required.Eastwood High School pupil Keira Ratter spoke about how she wants to use what she learned from the programme to be able to give back."I can’t wait to see what they bring to their schools in the year to come. I hope that they get as many great experiences as I got from mine.
The conference was hosted by former athlete and broadcaster Rhona McLeod, who shared her views on the power sport can have in developing key leadership skills, as well as her own experiences.The Ambassadors were also joined by Scottish International Cricketer Qasim Sheikh, who shared his journey and some inspiring stories to the group to help them prepare for their time as role models within their schools.
"They are the future of Scottish sport and they have so much to offer, so very excited to where they all go."
