YES Stones have donated over £600 to foodbanks across Edinburgh, Galashiels and Dunbar.

The activist group, which has a Facebook page with over 9000 members sharing and photographs as well as connecting Yes supporters across the globe, raised the money at their stall at last weekend’s Edinburgh Yes rally.Stones and slates are not priced, and all money raised is from donations. From this event, £215 each went to three foodbanks: The Edinburgh Food Project, Dunbar Community Foodshare and Galashiels and Area Food Bank.

The group have donated to numerous food banks and charities since 2020 - the number raised currently stands at £5276.Member Rachael Mackenzie shared the update with members, writing: “Just to let you know that the money raised from donations to the Yes Stones cairn at the March on September 2 has been divided between 3 foodbanks with £215.00 each sent to The Edinburgh Food Project, Dunbar Community Foodshare and Galashiels and Area Food bank”.

Food banks in South Ayrishire, Alloa, Penicuik, Caithness, Moray, Inverness, Perth, Stirling, Dundee, Golspie, and Rutherglen have all benefitted from the group's work. The public are welcome to take stones from the displays at marches and are encouraged “if you want to keep it, that's fine, but paint three more and plant them somewhere else”.
