Around a dozen people were gathered in the street in Burnley
Modesta Kvauka, 35, retrieved the weapon from his home after briefly walking away from an argument involving around a dozen people on Barclay Avenue in Burnley. He then banged the head of the axe against his own fence in a manner which a judge said was clearly intended to threaten his rivals across the road.
Video played to the court showed a group of around five people involved in an argument with some pushing and shoving occurring. A woman and child, later identified as Kvauka’s wife and daughter, are seen to walk away at the start of the video and enter their house. The others involved in the incident walked towards Kvauka, who was encouraged back into his home by a friend. Police officers soon arrived and Kvauka admitted what he had done.
