U.S. fans in Washington, D.C., cheered as Christian Pulisic scored in the Nov. 29 World Cup game against Iran to make the score 1-0. Sergiño Dest picked up the assist.
England and Wales played to a scoreless draw in the first half of their Group B finale.
England was the better side, dominating possession and holding a decisive advantage with nine shots to two. The Three Lions also had four corner kicks to none for Wales. Welsh goalkeeper Danny Ward has kept his team in the game, making two saves in relief of Wayne Hennessey, who is suspended for the game following an 86th-minute red card against Iran on Friday.
Wales, which has plenty of work to do on its own end, enters the intermission hoping for an Iran equalizer against the United States to give it a chance to move on. If the current results stand, England and the United States will advance to the knockout stage out of this group.
