The insurance company has agree to pay out
Work begins on Thursday, June 30 at the Tap & Run pub which was destroyed earlier this month by a devastating fire. The insurers have accepted liability for the accidental blaze which started in the roof and gutted the interior.
The pub, in Upper Broughton, is owned by England cricketer Stuart Broad and and former Nottinghamshire seamer Harry Gurney. Mr Gurney said: “We are so grateful for the early decision of our insurers on this and feel like we can breathe again." Before the rebuild begins work starts today to dismantle to roof which it is anticipated will take five to ten days. After that the inside will be stripped out and at the same time a new roof is being designed which will be added as the next stage.Stuart Broad added: “We are delighted that the pub can now be rebuilt and thank the villagers of Upper Broughton for their support over the last few weeks.
The fire broke out in the early hours of June 11. The owners said they had been overwhelmed by offers of support in the village, which is close to the Leicestershire border. It's likely to be at least next spring before gastro pub can reopen due to the extent of the damage. The cost has been estimated at around £1m.
