Police are searching for a suspect in the fatal stabbing of a woman near Plaza de Cesar Chavez in downtown San Jose.
At about 9:35 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of South Market Street on a report of a woman being physically assaulted, police said.
When they arrived, they found the victim suffering from at least one stab wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.Police did not identify the victim but said preliminary information indicates she was unhoused.
