According to police, the incident happened a short time before 8 p.m. on Wednesday at 700 South State Street.Police reported that the victim, who had not been identified, was initially transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition but died during transport.They said the road would remain closed in the area for the next several hours while they investigated.
“We have witnessed an alarming number of deadly hit and run crashes in the past two weeks,” said Chief Mike Brown. “I want to make it unequivocally clear -- this behavior is unacceptable. I strongly urge the drivers involved in these recent crashes to turn themselves in. These tragedies have left lasting scars on families, and your cooperation is not just a legal obligation but a moral one.”
