A woman died early Sunday morning in Porter after a major house fire involving responses from multiple agencies around the region.
The woman called emergency services reporting the blaze just after 2 a.m. as alarms blared in the background, leading the Porter Fire Department to respond at the house on the 20000 block of Russell Drive, according to the Montgomery County Police Reporter. She never made it out, the outlet said. Departments from Houston, The Woodlands and Caney Creek were among several agencies responding to the fire, the Porter Fire Department said on social media.
Responders were initially unable to find the woman after the fire because the house, which is on stilts, had partially collapsed. Crews from The Woodlands were called in to help stabilize the structure, the Montgomery County Police Reporter said. The woman, who has not been identified, was found just before 9 a.m. Sunday, the publication reported. The county fire marshal is leading the investigation.
