A woman has died after 'reversing car into river' in freak drowning accident
A WOMAN has died after a freak accident where she is said to have reversed her car into a swollen river.
Sara Ahmed, 30, tragically died after members of public raised the alarm that a car had gone into a fast-flowing Irish river.Emergency services rushed to the river but Sara, a doctor at Mayo University Hospital, was pronounced dead at the scene.The 30-year-old was dead when taken from the partly submerged vehicle at what is known as Hoban’s Carpark, Castlebar, which is adjacent to the Castlebar River.
Police believe that Dr. Ahmed was reversing at the time and her car, which breached a safety barrier, ended up in the water. The river, which drains Lough Lannagh, is particularly swollen at the moment due to recent heavy rainfall.Dr. Ahmed was pronounced dead at the scene.Most read in The Sun
