A woman died Monday night after she was struck by multiple vehicles, including a semi truck, onAbout 9:30 p.m., emergency crews in Plano were notified of multiple crashes in the southbound lanes of U.S. 75 near Legacy Drive.
In the first crash, a vehicle rear-ended a vehicle that had stalled on one of the inside lanes. As the driver of the stalled vehicle, which had its hazard lights on, got out from the passenger side, she was struck by a semi truck and pushed into oncoming traffic, police said.Police identified the victim as Leah Daniels, 29, of McKinney. She was pronounced dead at the crash site, police said.
The driver of the semi drove off without rendering aid and could face criminal charges pending the results of the police investigation. Officer Jennifer Chapman, a police spokeswoman, said the person driving the second vehicle that struck Daniels stopped and is not facing any charges. Police described the semi as a Peterbilt 389 with no trailer. The vehicle may have damage to the front quarter panel on the left side., Breaking News reporter
