Tragic. RIP
A 51-year-old woman from Poulton died from pneumonia 11 days after being taken to hospital with a fractured shoulder.
Tests also revealed she had an enlarged liver and Danielle was transferred to the intensive care unit after doctors suspected she was suffering from hospital-acquired pneumonia. Her condition continued to deteriorate and she sadly died at the hospital on July 29. Danielle's ex-husband Paul provided a statement to Blackpool's Assistant Coroner Louise Rae in which he revealed although the couple were divorced they remained in contact and he provided regular support to her.
Although Danielle's fall was unwitnessed she is suspected of having tripped over a phone cable and then fallen into her back garden. She was already frail and the injury led to her becoming immobile which may have contributed to her developing pneumonia.
