No. What’s more, bars are also battling Thanksgiving schedules.

Bars like Happiest Hour, the Londoner, the Dubliner, Blackfriar Pub and Texas Live will show World Cup matches in November and December 2022. But some will not show matches airing at 4 a.m. Central Time or those on Thanksgiving Day.For many pubs and bars around Dallas-Fort Worth, the return of the World Cup every four years brings seriously fanatical. But the 2022 matches in Qatar are causing bars owners to scratch their heads as they set their schedules.

In 2018, Brazil fans Luciana Powell Simone Pellizzi watch the World Cup game against Costa Rica at the Londoner.“We get customers supporting every country you can think of, with their flags, their jerseys. It’s a really great atmosphere,” she says. Entertainment complex Texas Live! in Arlington is showing a number of World Cup matches, though none are earlier than 10 a.m. The one to watch there is England vs. the United States at 1 p.m. Nov. 25 on the venue’s 100-foot screen.

So, pubs couldn’t serve mixed drinks, beer or wine at those 4 a.m. matches even if they were going to be open. “This year, it’s happening right over holiday season, which throws a nice wrench into everything,” Tate says. Many bar owners prefer the summertime schedule because slower sales tend to happen in June, July and August. A month-long set of soccer matches was a way for pub owners to coax customers to come out for a drink.
