Want to watch the University of Houston’s first football season in the Big 12? It’s going to cost a little extra.
Along with admittance into a Power Five conference, the Big 12 move allows UH to renew in-state rivalries and offer the most attractive home schedule in decades, a seven-game slate highlighted by visits from the University of Texas and TCU. Even with the increases, UH’s ticket prices are expected to be competitive with other Big 12 schools. The average season ticket for non-premium seats — which includes the UT game and a donation to Cougar Pride, the athletic department’s fundraising arm — ranges between $175 for mid-end zone/upper sideline bleachers to $975 for chairback seats on the south side lower level behind the UH bench.
“Obviously, the strength of the opponents we’re going to have and the visibility of them, that will help drive attendance significantly,” Pezman said. “How do we start stepping up our pricing and do it in a thoughtful way without freaking everybody out?
