Who made it out to Winter Warmer today?!
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The annual Winter Warmer Fest again sold out, with brewers mingling, pouring samples and greeting craft-beer lovers., sold out days before the event. It’s held at Windows on the River in Cleveland’s Flats. This year’s was the 16th fest.
It remains one of the best beer fests around in part because so many brewers attend. While some folks might think that’s not unusual, it is. Many brewers and owners often don’t have time to get to fests. And with a change in the law a few years ago allowing brewers to pour their beers, many manned taps Saturday.
Here are sights and sounds from the fest along with a glimpse at what Ohio breweries and brewers are up to:For the first time, a “Warmer’s Eve” tasting of rare and limited-edition beers was held on Friday night., who brews at Masthead Brewing Co.of Hofbrauhaus offered up a Doppelbock beer float made with vanilla-bean ice cream for Warmer’s Eve.said the organization will have a formal follow-up with its members, but he heard positive feedback from brewers about the inaugural event.
• The outdoor cask area always brings out extra creative concoctions. Wolf’s Ridge Brewing of Columbus offered Cake Batter Frappucino Daybreak, a Coffee Vanilla Cream Ale at 5%.• Royal Docks in Canton now has four variations of its Backyard Crusher series, which will be available in 12-can variety packs this month. It was the first variety pack• Boss Dog Brewing Co.
• Maize Valley Craft Brewery in Hartville, which brought in a canning line last year, is rolling out 12-ounce cans of its award-winning Lock, Stock and Brandy Barrel,of HiHO Brewing in Cuyahoga Falls said the brewery now has capacity for 30 taps. “It’s pretty crazy,” said Hovan, who said she and husbandprobably won’t keep that many on draft but have the capacity for it. Ali Hovan is vice president of the Ohio Craft Brewers Association board.
