Weather alert: Winter Storm Watch Issued for McHenry County, With Heavy Snow and Ice Possible This Week
According to the National Weather Service, that watch will begin at 3 a.m. Thursday and run through 9 p.m. that evening.
Total accumulations could exceed six inches in some places, along with minor ice accumulations, but warm surface temperatures caused by the above-average warmth and sunshine the area has received in recent days could help to tamp down how much of the snow will actually stick, according to the NBC 5 Storm team.Sign up for NBC Chicago newsletters.
