EXCLUSIVE: The Prince of Wales is set to return to public duties this week after being at his wife's side during her recovery but now he is 'staring his destiny in the face'
Less than two years after the death of his beloved grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, the Prince of Wales is already facing up to the reality of Kingship as he prepares to take on some of King Charles' duties.
This, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond points out, is something which will be a scary prospect for the heir to the throne at a time when he has been devoted to supporting his wife and three children. “He’s already lost his mother, and I think that gives you a vulnerability with any illness with a parent when you've already lost one, so I really feel for William in this.”
“But I do think that we should take our lead from the King and the Queen and from all the positive vibes coming out of the palace that the cancer has been caught early and that the King is feeling wholly optimistic. But King Charles – a renowned workaholic – will carry on behind the scenes dealing with his daily red boxes which contain his state business and official papers.
