Almost three quarters of the UK are heading to the polls
today to take part in the local elections. But there will be no elections held in Northamptonshire for either unitary council.

A commissioner sent by then-Local Government Secretary Sajid Javid recommended the county and borough councils be abolished and replaced by two unitary councils, a plan which was approved by Parliament in 2019.
