Thousands of physiotherapists are going on strike today for the first time in a dispute over pay as industrial action escalates across the NHS ⬇️ They do vital unseen work, explains AlannahFrancis1

Physiotherapists altered patients’ positions – a practice called “proning” – to move them onto their front to free up the surface area for the lungs to move.

They also helped keep patients’ lungs clear of secretions using tubes and manual-assisted cough techniques to remove mucus, something especially important for people sedated on ventilators.and helps the NHS recruit and retain staff to deliver the services that patients desperately need.” Steve Barclay, the Health and Social Care Secretary, said: “It is regrettable some union members are taking industrial action. I will continue meeting with unions, including the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists, to discuss what is fair and affordable for the 2023-24 pay process.”, physiotherapists will continue to provide emergency life-saving care, including covering intensive care. They will also continue to operate respiratory on-call services.
