experienced the disappointment of not hearing his name called during the seven rounds of the 2023 NFL Draft, but his football journey isn’t over.a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent. Given the Buccaneers’ needs and Tucker’s skill set, the Syracuse product has a solid chance of cracking the 53-man roster.
The 2022 season brought a bit more inconsistency. Tucker got more chances to show off his versatility and promise as a three-down back with more receptions, but those extra opportunities also revealed some troubling traits: body catches and bad drops. As a runner, Tucker started to look less confident in his cuts and wasn’t as strong fighting through contact in 2022.
Tampa Bay needed to bring in some help for its running backs room this offseason. Lead back Leonard Fournette became a free agent after his underwhelming 2022 season ended. Rookie Rachaad White had some impressive flashes of talent, but his production was ultimately underwhelming like Fournette’s. All the while, third-year running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn got the fewest chances of his career in 2022 with just 17 carries for 53 yards.
