In 2006 Matt Abramcyk quit his day job in finance to open his own bar in New York’s West Village, partnering with graffiti artist André Saraiva and DJ Paul Sevigny to take over the Beatrice Inn, a former Italian restaurant in a rundown basement that they transformed into a clubhouse for their friends.
The Beatrice, as it became known to its denizens, drew an eclectic mix of young artists, actors, musicians and models. “It was our land of misfit toys,” says Abramcyk. With its inscrutable gatekeeper, Angelo Bianchi, manning the door, it soon became a hot boîte in New York, raging into the wee hours most nights of the week.Continue reading your article with
