Mostly because of budget…. The depth of costumes, design, film, all of those plus the talent office and all of the people working with each other...you can’t start that now because we’re in an age of narrowcasting.
“Narrowcasting” is a term for the marketing practice of targeting specific segments of the national audience based on a variety of factors, such as demographics and interests. Sitcoms like NBC’sfor instance, were seen as being tailored to cater to a young, more urban audience—butwhich launched decades before both series, operated on a broader philosophy, catering theoretically to the whole country.
