For Americans, it is hard to imagine the intensity and love of fútbol elsewhere in the world, but for many countries football serves as a religion. It’s an inherited passion passed down through generations like family heirlooms, to the point that my baby cousin’s first outfit out of the delivery room was a Mexican football jersey. It's a cathartic reunion of a beloved game where citizens from all over the world come together.
This year’s World Cup is unlike any other: The games aren't being played in a country with previous World Cup experience and it won't be hosted in the summer like it usually is, as the Qatari summer weather is too harsh for outdoor games. Qatar is hosting 32 countries from November 20 to December 18.
