Jerry Jones set Cowboys nation on fire when he refused to say his team was on level of 49ers but said he likes the roster and won’t initiate a trade
A day after the Texas Rangers qualified for the World Series for the third time since the Dallas Cowboys last reached the Super Bowl in 1995, owner Jerry Jones provided a buzz kill to hiswith confusing comments on his team’s roster, trade deadline attitude and not being on the same level of the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles.
But the Cowboys owner remains irked by the 42-10 loss to the 49ers two weeks ago, especially considering that San Francisco has lost two games sinceCowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was completely flummoxed by the 49ers defense two weeks earlier, completing 14 of 24 passes for 153 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions in the humbling loss.
But as much Jones says the Cowboys have better football ahead, he also refused to put his team on the same level as the 49ers and the Eagles .“We belong in the upper echelons ,” Jones said. “I’m not going to say we belong on the field with San Fran, and we haven’t played Philly. So, I don’t want to go that far. But we’re in the upper echelon.”
“I like where we are with our personnel today, so I’m not thinking in any way that we need to upgrade our roster.”
