Dwayne Johnson explains why he listened to fan feedback in making Black Adam. The actor plays the titular character in Black Adam, which is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and features a number of new additions to the DCEU. Joining the film in their first live-action feature appearances are Dr. Fate , Hawkman , Atom Smasher , Cyclone , and Isis , as well as returning DCEU alum Viola Davis, reprising her role as Amanda Waller.
Johnson made his biggest promotion yet for Black Adam at Comic-Con, appearing onstage in costume and debuting a new trailer for the film, which made for an exciting reveal for the fans in attendance and around the world. In addition to Black Adam, a new trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods was also revealed, which has more than a few connections to Black Adam.
That's a great question. The mythology of Black Adam and to make sure that we are respectful of the mythology, especially telling the origin story. You want to be authentic to the mythology. The [other] inspiration really is the fans.
Johnson has been riding high on projects in recent years, particularly with Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, Jumanji: The Next Level, Jungle Cruise, and Red Notice, all of which performed well for the actor, leading him to the next big thing, which in this case is Black Adam. Johnson has long stated his dream with Black Adam is to change the hierarchy of the DC Universe, so it's clear he has big plans for the movie.
For a performer that has always relied on his fan-base to illuminate his career, Johnson knows a thing or two about their importance in the projects he chooses. Ever the showman, Johnson is someone that has paid attention to what fans want, as well as what they don't want.
