Bernie Sanders came to the Capitol on Thursday, when the Senate considered a judicial nominee bitterly opposed by liberals. But Sanders wasn't there to vote — he was instead doing an event with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.him away from any follow-up questions.The Vermont independent, in fact, hasn't voted in the Senate since July.
“As much as I think it’s pretty standard practice for senators running for president to be out of the building, there’s also nothing happening here,” said Sen. Chris Murphy . “There are a lot of days where I wonder whether I should take another job.” Take last month’s resolution to rescind the Trump administration’s guidance that loosened requirements for state Obamacare waivers. It failed 43-52, even with Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine crossing over and voting with the Democrats. Booker, Sanders, Warren, Harris and Bennet voting “yes” wouldn’t have changed the outcome — but the final vote tally would have been 48-52 instead.
Warren also indicates on her Senate website how she would have voted had she been in the Senate that day.
