Democrats had reached on agreement on a multi-billion coronavirus stimulus package.House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Friday afternoon that Democrats had reached a deal with the Trump administration on a coronavirus relief package Friday that will direct tens of billions of dollars to address the pandemic, including provisions for free coronavirus testing, paid sick leave and food assistance for Americans in need.
Pelosi made the announcement in a letter released Friday afternoon, following days of negotiations, but Republicans and the White House had yet to publicly state their support. According to the letter, the stimulus package will provide financial assistance to those most directly affected by the crisis by expanding unemployment and paid leave benefits.for everyone who needs a test, including the uninsured."
It also stipulates paid emergency leave, two weeks of paid sick leave and up to three months of paid family and medical leave for all workers would be provided for by federal reimbursement.
