If Monica Montgomery Steppe wins her runoff for county supervisor District 4 next month, her City Council District 4 seat will need to be filled by special election. It seems likely a special election, which must be held within 180 days of her leaving office, would be timed to coincide with the March 2024 primary. That would cost the city less than having a separate special election.
