Fighter planes have been scrambled from the military airfield in Scotland to intercept Russian jets
, and rookie pilot Harry Brooks who is trying to earn his wings and qualify for live operations.
Channel 4 says of the series: “At a time of increased global tension, this new series has unprecedented access to the fighter jets, war planes and service personnel at RAF Lossiemouth.”RAF Lossiemouth is a military airfield located on the western edge of the town of Lossiemouth in Moray, north-east Scotland. There is no official aircraft viewing area there, and access is prohibited to the public.combat aircraft squadrons, one Poseidon MRA1 squadron, and an RAF Regiment squadron.
RAF Lossiemouth’s commander is Group Captain Jim Lee, who joined the RAF in 1998. His RAF bio says: “After beginning his frontline flying career on the Jaguar he completed an exchange tour in the USA, spending three years flying the F16CJ. On return to the UK he was posted to the growing Typhoon Force and previous tours have included RAF Coningsby, the Pentagon, Nasoc and Operations Shader and Biloxi.”will showcase RAF Lossiemouth’s “crucial role in safeguarding the UK’s airspace and seas”.
It will give insight into the day-to-day UK and global operations at one of the air force’s busiest stations.
