A major Southern city stands in for the show's fictional town of Chucalissa, Mississippi.
returned for its second season this month, bringing viewers back to The Pynk. Adapted from creator Katori Hall's 2015 play,"Pussy Valley," the workplace drama following the dancers and staff of a Mississippi strip club is a love letter to Southern women, showing the athleticism and ambition powering the club on a day-to-day basis. The show's also beloved for its Shakespearian slang and outspoken characters, including the beloved, fabulous owner of The Pynk, Uncle Clifford .
Season 2 sees the Rona hit the fictional town of Chucalissa, Mississippi and shows how Uncle Clifford, veteran dancer Mercedes , rising star Keyshawn , and the rest of the town adapt to pandemic protocols. While the Pynk is located in a semi-rural town on the Delta waterfront, the show is filmed a bit more inland.
