'We’re fighting a battle of perception, not one of actual national security threats' 📱 TikTok blames geo-politics for UK Government device ban stokel reports:

‘We feel like we’re being judged on something we haven’t done, rather than something we have done’TikTok’s vice-president of government relations and public policy has said governments should be providing evidence for their decisions to limit access to the Chinese-owned app, after the UK governmentthe ban was “a proportionate move based on a specific risk with government devices”.

There have been concerns around TikTok’s links to China as its parent company, ByteDance, was founded in the country, with critics raising fears data could be passed to Beijing. TikTok is registered to an office in London with the UK’s Companies House. Its parent company, ByteDance, is officially based in the Cayman Islands, but has its offices in Beijing.

“When the balloon goes up, TikTok came down,” he said. “That was the challenge that we had. We’re fighting a battle of perception, not one of actual national security threats.”
