The first report in 2021 of an Asian giant hornet in the U.S. has been confirmed in Washington state.
When hunting bees they enter a"slaughter phase" and a small group of Asian giant hornets can kill an entire hive of honeybees in a matter of hours.
Much of the world's commercial honey production is dependent on European honeybees, however, which have no means of fighting off these violent attacks.This sighting in Washington is the first of 2021 and was found approximately two miles from the site WSDA eradicated the first Asian giant hornet nest in the United States in October 2020.
Both the confirmed sightings of Asian giant hornets in the last year came from reports from members of the public. If you see a murder hornet, you should report the sighting to your state's Department of Agriculture.What Should I Do If I'm Stung?

Pac-12 says COVID-19 issues can result in forfeits in 2021Pac-12 teams that cannot play because of COVID-19 issues will likely be forced to forfeit games this season. The conference announced Thursday it is reinstituting its forfeiture policy after it modified its rules last season because of the pandemic. “If an institution is unable to play a contest through its own fault, it shall forfeit such contest to its opponent,” the conference said.
