A couple of interesting-looking comedies drop, and a big horror franchise returns!
This summer has been chock-full of fun superhero, adventure, and family movies, but this weekend, it seems as though we’re getting a bit of a break from the fodder. A breather is important, giving us a minute to walk away from big and noisy franchises to catch a little indie movie or a simple studio film, which then makes audiences excited for blockbusters again.
COLLIDER VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Superheroes aren’t all gone though, with My Adventures with Superman – a new anime inspired take on the Man of Steel -- having premiered on Adult Swim this past Thursday. Then, over on Amazon Prime, there’s the season premiere of The Horrors of Dolores Roach, an adaptation of the podcast of the same name.
Collider's own Therese Lacson highly enjoyed the film, saying, "Bursting with laughter and heart, Joy Ride is not only chock-full of ribald comedy, but it's a wholesome story about friendship which is what grounds these types of movies. Without the firm backbone of these four characters, there wouldn't be enough to keep the film afloat.
