David Fincher's 'The Killer' sees a limited theatrical release ahead of its Netflix debut
" I highly recommend seeing it. Yes, you could wait for the movie to come to Netflix on November 10, but the idea of not seeing a Fincher film in a theater feels like a violation of some unspoken code.
“The Killer” stars Michael Fassbender as an assassin who sees his life turned upside down when he fails to do a job. It’s not a bright and shinny experience. It’s also more restrained than Fincher has been in the past. The violence comes in bursts. It’s not an action film. The pace is more European than American in that regard. It’s not a horror film either, but the sense of doom and dread is omnipresent. Fassbender’s unnamed character is terrifying in the best of ways. I love the film.
If "The Killer" isn't playing in your area, you do have many other options this weekend including theatrical releases of "," a documentary from Angel Studios that explores and supports the idea of an afterlife. It isn’t scientific. It never claims to be. It’s also not overtly religious. Spiritual, yes. The special message from the filmmakers at the end of the film is the only moment that made me cringe.
