There's nothing inherently unreasonable with a person coming to the aid of a brother in duress, even if the brother has been accused of terrible things. But let's be very clear, Chris wouldn't have been on those calls if he were the governor's accountant brother. His value-add to those strategy sessions was his insight as the governor's deeply-established media insider brother.
Even that isn't inherently inexcusable, if Chris wants to call himself a public relations consultant or a crisis management director. But what the younger Cuomo can't do is call himself a journalist. CNN also can't claim to be a credible news organization if it employs as one of its primetime hosts a guy moonlighting as a crisis manager for an elected official. , hours after the report was released. He didn't mention James' report, his role in the scandal, or his brother.
