The actor discusses entering the entrepreneurial space—and how she wants to change the world with baby food.
Jennifer Garner has had her share of star turns as a mother: She was Vanessa, the adoptive mother inand Emily, the loving, understanding matriarch inBut it’s her own mom who inspired her most recent turn as entrepreneur. In 2017, Garner cofounded Once Upon a Farm, which makes organic, cold-pressed baby food, as well as smoothies and applesauce for kids.
“When we think of kindergarten readiness in Manhattan or Los Angeles, it pretty much means reading. Maybe they even know some Spanish,” she said. “But in our country at large, it’s not knowing the alphabet, it’s knowing that thereIt was hot, she says, and quiet inside of the small cinder block house—reminiscent of an orphanage.
“But in the process of all that, we see hungry kids,” she says. “I’m a mom with three kids who nursed and pumped all over the world, probably in this bathroom here. I tried so hard to make my kids’ baby food—and I have help—and it sucked.”
