Compared to where the year began, did anyone bet a McLaren would be on the podium, let alone 10 races into the calendar? Lando Norris' podium finish was a reason the British GP was one of the most exciting races of the year. ✍️ LukeSmithF1 | mwc13_3

Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant likely left Silverstone with smiles etched on their faces.

Albon identified Williams’ competition as Haas and AlphaTauri . Truly anything can happen with more than half of the calendar left, but it is evident Williams is becoming more competitive. Six wins down, three more to go to match Sebastian Vettel and Alberto Ascari’s joint record for the most consecutive victories. It would be brave to bet against him right now.The Silver Arrows brought home their second best points haul of the season with a combined 25 points, and while George Russell felt their pace was better than expected compared to Red Bull, Ferrari and Aston Martin, he pointed out, “those McLarens have just come from nowhere, so we don’t really know what to think.

Yet Sunday proved underlying inconsistencies remain. The high winds at Silverstone — remember the track was literally built on an airfield — made the car “extremely difficult” to drive, Leclerc said. He fought a losing battle to keep George Russell behind, getting undercut quickly, then struggled on the hard compound tire. The timing of the safety car hurt both Ferraris, with Leclerc deciding it was worth coming in again, salvaging two points for ninth.

He’s not the only one calling out the mixed midfield. Behind Red Bull, the picture keeps changing. Fernando Alonso was a consistent presence the first three races. Charles Leclerc has found his way to the podium twice. Alpine’s Esteban Ocon and both Mercedes drivers have also finished in the top three. Now we have McLarens fighting up high at Silverstone.
