West Valley College is holding a public unveiling of its newest building, which will house the Saratoga campus’s visual arts department, on Oct. 27. The 20,000-square-foot building, designed by Mark Cavagnero Associates, is part of the community college’s Cilker School of Art and Design. The college is hosting a grand opening celebration on Friday, Oct. 27 at 9:30 a.m. with a land acknowledgement, speakers, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, workshops, art installations, lunch and a building tour from 1-3 p.m. There will also be a special artist talk hosted by Content Magazine at 5:30 p.m. The new building promotes interaction between the activities inside and the trees that surround it, featuring curtain walls and exterior circulation shared by louvred canopies.
