The Scottish Government issued an alert on a new strain of Covid found circulating.
West Lothian had to re-jig its winter vaccination programme days before it was launched to protect the most vulnerable from the new strain of Covid.
The head of Primary Care Services told this month’s meeting of the Integration Joint Board: “as a precautionary measure the safest approach was to vaccinate those most vulnerable as soon as possible.” “By vaccinating our most at risk citizens in October, this strategy aimed to ensure maximum vaccine protection over the winter period.
Vaccinations of the housebound started on 4 September and for those in care homes this week. Those aged 75 years and over will receive national scheduled appointments from 9 October, but have access to self-registration appointments from this week.West Lothian HSCP will provide 100,000 vaccination slots this autumn, within the core programme to administer flu and Covid vaccines for members of the public and eligible staff members.
In response to patient and staff feedback a focus of this year’s programme has been to provide local delivery venues. These are: Strathbrock Partnership, Broxburn. Dave King Partnership, East Calder, Armadale Partnership, Fauldhouse Partnership, Whitburn Partnership, Blackburn Partnership,Howden Health Centre,Bathgate Primary Care Centre, Carmondean Health centre and West Calder Health Centre.
