... [+]Photo by Scott Olson/Getty Images: Pete Buttigieg on Sunday responded to attacks from Bernie Sanders about his billionaire backers, saying that “Bernie is pretty rich” and Democrats should court big-money donors to keep up with large fundraising hauls from President Donald Trump.
After finishing as frontrunners in the Iowa caucuses last week, Sanders has ramped up his jabs against Buttigieg by highlighting, as, that Buttigieg has the most billionaire donors of any other Democrat in the field. At Friday’s presidential debate, Sanders directly attacked Buttigieg. “If we want to change America you’re not going do it by electing candidates who are going out to rich people’s homes and begging for money,” he said. And “Unlike some of the folks up here, I don’t have 40 billionaires Pete contributing to my campaign.”“Wall Street Pete” on Saturday at a Democratic dinner in New Hampshire.State of the Union by pointing out Sanders’ net worth, whichis at $2.5 million.
Buttigieg also said that Democrats have the best shot at beating Trump by bringing “everybody into the fight” and attempting to raise “all of the support we can get.”: “Look, this is about making sure we bring everybody into the fight at a moment where we’re going to be going up against Donald Trump and his allies are raising, I think the other day they raised $25 million bucks in one day. This is the fight of our lives.
