But the Weaving Shuttle Sculpture in Nelson town centre is a visual celebration of Lancashire's significant role in the Industrial Revolution, which dates back to the mid-1800s
Originally, it was pushed by hand, but by the mid-18th century, it was used in machines, meaning textiles could be produced in larger volumes, much faster and therefore boosting the industry significantly. The huge artwork, located on Scotland Road and Market Street junction in the Pendle town, was designed by steel engineer artist David Palmer, who also created the Alice Nutter statue.
