Week of violence in Greater Manchester with three killed, boy shot in chest, man stabbed and gun fired in street
There have been scenes of horror on the streets of Greater Manchester this week, with three people killed in road collisions, a boy shot in the chest and a man 'cut with a weapon' outside a pub.
Police immediately increased patrols in the area and introduced stop and search powers in response. Two teenage boys, aged 15 and 16, were later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and have since been bailed pending further investigations. A 77-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by carless driving. In a new update, Greater Manchester Police said the suspect has now been released on bail.
Greater Manchester Police said the motorbike was heading towards The Crescent when it came off the carriageway. The rider, a 25-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and later died. Greater Manchester Police later confirmed that the boy, who has since been remembered by heartfelt floral tributes at the scene, was killed in a hit-and-run, with the driver fleeing the scene.
