The National Weather Service issued a flood warning Tuesday morning for the Mississippi River in the Quad-Cities area, where five neighboring cities sit along the Iowa-Illinois line.

Rising water surrounds Modern Woodmen Park in downtown Davenport, Iowa, as the Mississippi River is close to cresting and flooding in the Quad Cities area on April 27, 2023.

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning Tuesday morning for the Mississippi River in the Quad Cities area, where five neighboring cities sit along the Iowa-Illinois line. Motorists were cautioned not attempt to drive around barricades or drive through flooded areas. Pedestrians are urged to avoid walking near riverbanks.Officials warned motorists and pedestrians specifically in the Illinois cities of Keithsburg, New Boston, Rock Island, Fulton and Gladstone and the Iowa cities of Keokuk, Gregory Landing, Muscatine, Le Claire, Bellevue, Camanche, Burlington and Dubuque.Major flooding was reported at in Driscoll’s Island, Iowa. At 3:30 a.m.

In central, east central and west central Illinois, northwest winds gusting up to 40 mph with low humidity continues to create fire hazardous. The winds could possiblyIn Chicago, conditions were mostly cloudy and breezy at O’Hare International Airport at 49 degrees. At Midway it was mostly cloudy at 50 degrees. The Tuesday high was expected to hit 52 s with a slight chance of showers at night.
