'We sacrificed our twenties and worked seven days a week to build our dream home from scratch'
Anyone who has watched Grand Designs will know just how much work goes into a self-building project. The popular Channel 4 property programme follows ambitious individuals as they design and build their dream home, from the initial blueprints right down to the final reveal.
"Since then we've worked our way up the ladder and have owned four houses. We have never bought a new build, all of our houses have been renovation projects that have needed work doing to them. In 2019 the couple began the process of building their dream home, which started with searching for land. “I thought we knew exactly what we wanted, but then when the building started I made so many changes," she admitted.
"We had a project manager who sorted all the builders and everything out for us because we were so busy with our jobs at the time," Katie explained."We wanted it bigger at the back and we had to submit an application to the council for that and then wait six weeks for them to come back to us.Katie then began renovating her home room by room with her interior style which he describes as 'classic modern'.
