'We took four kids to a pub with a play area where they can eat FREE all summer'
It's not that we're not used to it, is it? Deciding what to have for tea and making it night after night is part and parcel of having a family. You can't just decide to skip tea if you don't fancy it one night. That's a toddler's prerogative, not yours.
It was very quiet when we arrived at Applewood Farm in Astley, Wigan, on Tuesday evening - possibly a mixture of it being midweek, the cost of living crisis impacting hard, and parents being unaware of the offer to blame. My other half went for the beer-battered fish, served with chips and garden peas, for a reasonably priced £10.49 - and there was no grumbling over his dish.It's all your typical food that kids tend to like - fish fingers, nuggets, burgers, sausages, you name it.
My youngest went for a roast chicken breast with barbecue sauce, cheese and bacon, adding corn and garlic bread fingers. That kept him unusually quiet. The staff were helpful and friendly - and thankfully in the know about the offer to save any awkwardness. The service was quick, the place was clean and the food was great.
