A native of Colombia whose family came to the U.S. when she was 4 for her mother’s brain surgery, Guio boasts eight years as a prosecutor in the Dallas County district attorney’s office. She worked in the sexual assault unit and contributed to efforts to clear the backlog of rape kits. Guio also spent five months as a liaison for the DA’s office during the 2019 Legislature, working with lawmakers to draft bills and negotiate compromise language.
