Unite boss Sharon Graham has urged Keir Starmer's party 'to be as bold as the 1945 Labour government'
In an interview with the BBC,Sharon Graham said Labour needed to be “bolder” and warned the union, which is Labour’s biggest financial backer, would not write “blank cheques”.“We would be better off with a Labour government but I am very, very disappointed with the lack of ambition.”
Earlier this week the union’s members voted overwhelmingly against disaffiliating from the Labour Party. She said the party needs “to be as bold as the 1945 Labour government”, adding that there “wasn’t much money about then” either. Ms Graham said Unite was currently pushing the party to prioritise the renationalisation of steel and energy companies.
