We tracked down the dog-walking Grinch who has been causing a Christmas stir in Lancashire for three years
If you've walked along the streets of Darwen in recent weeks, you might have thought you're seeing things.
Starting in lockdown, the Grinch, who wishes to remain anonymous, has been walking his beloved German Shepard, Max around his hometown of Darwen. Due to the pandemic, he says he wanted to put smiles back on people's faces, as many were unable to see family members at Christmas time, with the restrictions putting a dampener on the festivities. He told LancsLive said: "Mr Grinch and Max started in lockdown, as after that year, it didn't feel like Christmas for anyone.
"I know a lot of people that didn't enjoy lockdown for all sorts of different reasons. I thought this brings joy, and my boys loved it, so I bet the people of Darwen will love it too.Not only have people from Darwen been enjoying spotting the Grinch on his walks, but others have travelled from out of town to spot the dogwalker.
On social media, residents have been writing posts about the Grinch in their swathes, with many capturing him out on his walks and others wondering who the mystery man behind the mask really is. Darwen Bars and Leisure have taken to Facebook to suggest that the town's very own Grinch should be the one to turn on the Christmas lights next year.
